My son is on the spectrum with autism. I have the most fascinating conversations with him. I’ve never seen (nor do I totally understand) anyone analyze scenarios or situations like he does. What he considers interesting and how he processes a subject brings me to a new horizon on worldviews. Our faith shapes our reality. If you can’t see yourself out of a tunnel the darkness which you are entering brings you into a state of inertia. The light at the end seems further in miles than the distance you’re able to travel. What is the nature of a problem? It has different dynamics for different people. These dynamics are not only shaped by reality, it is also shaped by our faith within that reality. What may seem to be a large obstacle to climb may be actually a hill to an ant farm for someone else. Someone may find it difficult to play the flute while another person could practice that instrument easily yet have problems with the drums. Consider the wisdom of these two scriptures:
“He replied, ’Because you have so little faith. Truly I tell you, if you have faith as small as a mustard seed, you can say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move. Nothing will be impossible for you’’ - Mathew 17: 20 & 21
“He told them another parable; ‘The kingdom of heaven is like a mustard seed, which a man took and planted in his field. Though it is the smallest of all seeds, yet when it grows it is the largest of garden plants and becomes a tree, so that the birds come and perch in its branches.”
Mathew 13: 31 & 32
Why would Jesus use the analogy of a “mustard seed”? What is the concept of what it can produce? Faith is a diamond rock reflecting the facets of light in reality. I said before, “religion is not a relationship”. Jesus marriage to the church is not of a domestic abusive, dictatorship marriage. The aspect of how one views faith and uses faith is relative to the perspective of using one’s knowledge, talents, and gifts in this world. The music artist Sting was recorded making this quote, “Romantic love is actually frictional or philosophical. The love of a woman is actually the love of God.” In the ministry of Jesus, we see the story of the Samaritan woman at the well. Read these scriptures and meditate on them:
“Now he had to go through Samaria, So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his sone Joseph. Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon. When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?’ (His disciplines had gone into the town to buy food.) The Samaritan woman Said to him. ‘You are Jew and I am a Samaritan woman. How can you ask me for a drink? (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans) Jesus answered her, ‘If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he and would have given and living water.’ ‘Sir.’ the woman said, ‘you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?’ Jesus answered, ‘Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst. Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water welling up to eternal life’ The woman said to him, Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty and have to keep coming here to draw water’ He told her, ‘Go call your husband and come back.’ I have no husband.’ She replied. Jesus said to her, ‘You are right when you say you have no husband. The fact is, you have had five husband, What you have just said is quite true.’ ‘Sir,’ the woman said, I can see that you are a prophet. Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain, but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem’ Woman.’ Jesus replied, ‘believe me, a time is coming when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem. You Samaritans worship what you do not know; we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.’ The woman said, ‘I know that Messiah’ (called Christ) is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us’ Then Jesus declared, ‘I, the one speaking to you- I am he'” John 4: 4-26
This woman walked away mystified in “awe” of the presence of Jesus because she saw the multitudes of possibilities of truth about this man whom she just me could now make if he influenced her life. People come to financial seminars to hear about different types of business systems. Rather it is through real estate, network marketing or capital investment, the moral of the pitch for the event is for the audience to walk away perplexed within their original believe system based on how their lifestyle being changed because of the revenue they will possess by following that particular new business system. This morality of faith is known as the “why” factor. If the prospect does not develop a deep enough “why” for wanting to accept their opportunity, they will never put forth the work it takes to become successful with their business system. Christ gave us the morality of counting the cost whereby we die to ourselves and pick up our cross daily. This is the bare minimum effort in order to walk with Him as His disciple. Consider His view in how He sees the importance of His own ministry. Consider His view on how He sees you.
