Much as history of creation or evolution, there is history behind our psychic make-up or worldview as humans. There are three main periods of philosophical era within our society’s history- Premodern, Modern & Postmodern. It is hard for the experts to decide the name of the exact era we’re at today. I call the name of this presence era Revelations. The reason I choose this title is because it still holds true to this day from 2000 years earlier the teachings and philosophy of Jesus Christ. When we look at our previous stages based on it’s source of knowledge and over all bases of sources of truth first, we have, Premodern which source of knowledge comes from God or gods (Greek mythology and Balaam) and the morality of truth is based on observation, common sense and authority. We see the relics of this period in pyramids and sundials. Then we have the Modern era which is based on observation but interprets personal experience and strategies to collect resources of sound reasoning. Whereby spirit and physical balance in a state of reasoning measured by biology and a mental state of logic. Then we have Postmodern which combines observation and personal experience but takes a humbler state of believing by saying “We don’t know all truth at all”. This era in history completes itself with many philosophical debates and arguments based on the previous knowledge of the past (thus; the Renaissance period). Now we come to this day and age. Since no human has ever been successful in challenging the reality of living a life here on Earth after death, Jesus’ testimony and teaching challenges the modern time; Revelations. Using the source of observation, experimental combined with all three previous periods, plus a modern sense of spirituality and consciousness; we are able to judge today’s worldview accurately with a central source of truth, the Bible to grasp understanding.
Now with today’s modern movement of human civil rights within the areas of religion, race, gender, social status, mental health, physical disabilities, we have come to an awareness of equal rights and equality. All humans should be treated fairly with a central theme of love & respect. This is what one human with common sense considers right. A morality of justice is called to order (at least attempted here in the U.S.A.) within the court system and political satire. There is a cause to reason, a conscience state of balance between grace and justice. Now along with the residue of humanity coming from the Postmodern era of philosophy; humans may understand that only God can establish a solid balance of grace and justice, As I said before, there is a source of truth and reasoning to establish a base foundation to grow upon for all belief systems (much as the foundation to establish the U.S. Constitution) we see a clear horizon upon today worldview and era of reasoning. Considering the Bible as a source of objective truth. Then we have clear focus. What is objective truth? Objective truth is as color. Green is a specific wavelength. No one can decide rather they agree, like or dislike this wavelength and address it as something else besides green. This is based on truth which is mathematically established. Everyone knows that what makes something green is that it has a certain measure of light wavelength in the color spectrum. Now there is another form of truth called subjective truth. Subjective truth is based around one’s opinion, beliefs system, likes and/or dislikes. It is subjective to an understanding point of view from a specific perspective. When I consider God’s Word and perspective upon humanity, I consider our culture the LGBD-Q as an example of what God would call a subjective truth. Whereby His word directly addresses the manner or behavior of their sinful act; His heart can love and does love the sinner behind the sin.
If you choose to enter the scriptures with a clear conscience, God’s Word about homosexuality is clear. Moses in the 13 century writes:
“Do not have sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman; that is detestable”
Leviticus 18:22
“If a man has sexual relations with a man as one does with a woman, both of them have done what is detestable. They are to be put to death; their blood will be on their own hands”
Leviticus 20:13
For those who feel that these scriptures only apply to God’s people in that day in age (the Israelites) we see Paul teaching only 2000 years ago.
“Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lust. Even their women exchanged natural sexual relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural sexual with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed shameful acts with other men and received in themselves the due penalty for their error.”- Romans 1:26 & 27
It is just around 60 years since the concept of homosexuality was actually accepted in any mentality of Christian doctrine. In the 1960’s Tom Perry open the very firs Gay Theology Christian Church. This open the doors for Christianity to embrace homosexuality without questioning our psychic make-up of what is right and wrong as well as what is true in doctrine. Does the presence of God in one life equal the approval of God? We see clearly in the scriptures Paul writing:
“Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived. Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men” I Corithians 6:9-10
People may argue the truth behand Christian doctrine, nevertheless, what is clear and obvious stands through life, death and eternity. People question the reality of the Holy Trinity simple because it does not quote such a thing in the Bible. However, one does not argue logic as precisely as mathematics. The morality off God=Son=Spirit as one is as if understanding the difference of 1+1+1=3 to the moral of 1x1x1=1. Following this mathematics logically leads one to understanding faith. One may know and see facts as- God is love = truth, God loves all people = truth, God loves gay people = true so A=B and B=C so A=C. Thus, God loves homosexuality = false. The logic to follow this though process needs a leap of faith to balance God’s moral and truth.
“It’s only the mysterious equation of love that is the truth behind logic and reason can be fact.”- John Nash
Religion is not a relationship. Now when you read I Corinthians 6: 9-11; If you have no moral issues with these things. If you embrace these things with no conscience but open your mind to enter into the mindset and the lifestyle; you cannot enter the Kingdom of God. Learn to be in place of a deep relationship, not in a state of right and wrong, opinions or beliefs. What is justice- a fair balance of judgement between consequences and sin. Jesus Christ is the only true balance between grace and truth.
(SPIRITUAL REFLECTION: “Jesus answered, ‘I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me. ‘If you really know me, you will know my Father as well. From now on, you do know him and have seen him” John 14: 6 & 7)
Life is not fair. We find ourselves searching for emotional comfort over moral lawfulness. God is a just God. What He balance as truth and reason has the quality of being right mathematically and compassionate with grace. Our state of humanity is intertwining between logic and emotions.
