Guilt remains; blindness is rooted
The Catholic denomination is famous for their congregation to confess their sins to the priest. We see in doctrine that the moral of confessing sin is important in the walk of Christian faith (SPIRITUAL REFLECTION: Romans 10: 9&10- “If you declare with your mouth, Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved.”. Nevertheless, we see within society that not all Christians are Catholic. How can this important aspect of Christian doctrine be done on the regular bases for those who don’t go to a denomination church whereby there is a priest to confess one’s sins too?
“On the fourteenth day of the first month, the exiles celebrated the Passover. The priests and Levites had purified themselves and were all ceremonially clean. The Levites slaughtered the Passover lamb for all the exiles, for their relatives the priest and for themselves. So the Israelites who had returned from the exile ate it, together with all who had separated themselves from the unclean practices of their Gentile neighbors in order to seek the Lord, the God of Israel. For seven days they celebrated with joy the Festival of Unleavened Bread, because the Lord had filled then with joy by changing the attitude of the king of Assyria so that he assisted them in the work on the house of God, the God of Israel”-Ezra 6:19-22
“If anyone sins because they do not speak up when they hear a public charge to testify regarding something they have seen or learned about, they will be held responsible. If anyone becomes aware that they are guilty-if they unwittily touch anything ceremonially unclean (whether the carcass of an unclean creature that moves along the ground) and they are unaware that they have become unclean, but then they come to realize their guilt, or if they touch human uncleanness (anything that would make them unclean) even though they are unaware of it, but then they learn of it and realize their guilt; or if anyone thoughtlessly takes an oath to do anything, whether good or evil (in any matter one might carelessly swear about) even though they are unaware of it, but hen they learn of it and realize their guilt- when anyone becomes aware that they are guilty in any of these matters, they must confess in what way they have sinned. As a penalty for the sin they have committed, they must bring to the Lord a female lamb or goat from the flock as a sin offering; and the priest shall make atonement for them for their sin.- Leviticus 5:1-6
Within my church’s fellowship we have a mindset of disciple-partners. We fellowship as a body. We also take the time to build one-on-one close relationships with specific members whom we may “click” with natural; single sisters seek out to other single sisters, married couples reach out to sibling married couples, older brothers plus college single & campus brothers intentionally gel with like-lifestyles members who also fits in the same social demographics. These relationships within our church divides into sectors of ministries, plus they usually reflect and appear as click- friendships kinship. We do this all with the mindset of building strong, spiritual relationships whereby our walk with Jesus can be sharpen.
(SPIRITUAL REFLECTION: Proverbs 27:17- “As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another”)
This also gives us a safe environment to confess our sins when it’s necessary to do so. There is a difference between a public environment and a private environment; both mentally & morally. In Jesus/ days a man was not welcome in a private environment of a woman unless they were intimately related, a priest would die in the face of the Lord if he entered a holy sacred environment unclean. In the public today, we have counselors, psychiatrists who have a profession in assisting a person to align their mental & psychic make-up to what is normal, true, acceptable and good within the eyes of society. Is the morality of confessing one’s sin based on a person looking healthy in society? For the most part, more people are against the concept of coming face-to-face with their sin, nor do they appreciate the idea of it being publicly broadcast. A balance of personal space, plus deep intimate friendships are important to the dynamics of confessing sin. All Christians needs to find a way to effectively master this lifestyle in order to be successful in walking along side Jesus as His disciple.
