THE FRUIT GARDEN: Mysterious Words of Patience
Depending on the biblical translation, you may find various terms used to illustrate Galatians 5:22, 23; the Fruits of the Spirit. One specific word you’ll find several translations from one Bible translation to another is “patience”. When looking more deeply into the definition of this fruit using both the dictionary & thesaurus we find a fascination display of concepts. Thus; look at the many faces of the word patience: endure in times of difficulties, bearing pain, long endurance of offenses, temperance, steadfast, stability, steadiness, firmness, submission, refrain, singleness of purpose.
When observing the characteristic in Nature of God, we consider illustration of long running rivers, deep woven valleys, mountains plus strong enduring trees. One of the basic illustrations of God’s patience when dealing with humanity is slavery. We can see true significance points in history in this culture whereby slavery was tolerated yet disliked by our creator; once with the Jews in Egypt, second with native African Americans.
