Working the Twelve Steps from a 12Step Program is working a method of repentance. Those who are able to work the Step daily within their lives are able to adopt biblical spiritual principles within their lives In the Book of James Chapter 1 verses 22-25 reads:
“Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like someone who looks at himself in a mirror and, after looking at himself goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But whoever looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues in it- not forgetting what they have heard, but doing it- they will be blessed in what they do.”
It’s not only important to know the Steps, you actually need to practice them and have them working within your life. The definition of recovery is changing the way you think and practice habits within your life without the use of the substance which you are addicted too. The definition of repentance is a total mind shift and change to conscious perspective. The nature of recovery itself is actually spiritual repentance. These two definition works in harmony of one another; just as a violin & piano.
